Let Uncle Sam Grant Your Wish

Whether you are trying to finance a small business, new home or college for the kids, let Uncle Sam help.

There is more than $400 billion in Federal grants that American citizens may apply for... absolutely free. There are also local and state grants that you can apply for.

A grant is different from a loan in that if you qualify for the grant you don't have to pay it back. Finding and applying for a grant is a process that most people are just too lazy to take the time for, but it's really not complicated.

Here is THE single access point for over 1000 grant programs offered by all Federal grant-making agencies in 21 categories. Not only do they show you where to get a grant, but the proper format and techniques to get you noticed if there are a number of others competing for the same grant.

Once you select the category of grant that you would like to apply for you will be taken to a listing of sub-categories available and will be able to see the qualifications for applying for a grant in that area of interest.

You'll notice that these are all Government web sites, they are straight forward and not selling you anything.

Once you've located the grant that you want to apply for you'll need to download the application package. In order to download the proper application, be sure to note the appropriate CFDA Number OR Funding Opportunity Number of the grant that you wish to apply for.

Next, you want to go to the guidelines to complete the application package and take the time to do this right.

Be a stickler for details.

Finally, you'll need the submit application package to properly submit your application. Again, take it step-by-step and do it right.

Once that's done, the government has set up a system that allows you to track your application, to keep you in the loop while you wait for them to do their part of the process.

Another web site that you may wish to look at is the Directory of Federal Resources. This listing is broken down into different types of personal situations that you are trying to address.

A couple of hours of reading and writing to acquire a free college education for the kids or to start that business that you've always wanted is a small price to pay.
